On August 17, 2021, the project coordination of the water supply project in Homa Bay, Kenya, we have supported since August 2019, was selected as Grassroots and Grant-in-Aid for Human Security Project by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. This is the first successful case we have supported. After the application, the staffs of Embassy of Japan in Kenya who was the contact person, returned to Japan temporarily due to the influence of COVID-19. We were worried about what the application process would be like, but soon after they returned to Kenya and the examination process proceeded.
The next process is to implement the project within one year from the date of the grant agreement. It has been still under COVID-19, but we hope the equipment will be transported into Kenya and will be installed safely!
